Where is my Post 9/11 GI Bill BAH and book stipend?

Question by Stephen: Where is my Post 9/11 GI Bill BAH and book stipend?
So here we are further into the month. I posted a questions similar to this last week or so. I’m just checking on if there are any updates to the status of any ones tuition or BAH. My tuition debt is up to almost $ 8K. Had to drop classes because I haven’t received any money nor has the school. My financial aid is still being held hostage because of the tuition debt. Hopefully some one out there has some good news. Any one receive anything yet? I filed a congressional inquiry because the VA owes me and my husband more then $ 10K not to include tuition. That would be almost another $ 17K. They didn’t even pay out chapter 30 before they canceled it and left me empty handed. The bills are due, the mortgage is late and I’m stuck in a bind! I read the other there are more then 200,000 Vets who haven’t received their tuition benefits yet. How ridiculous is that? It probably went to cash for clunkers! Anyway if anyone has had better luck with the VA, I sure could use some tips.

i hear you brother… I am waiting just like you. But my school had me fill out a form and they differed ( didnt charge ME) the tuition and fee’s. but I still had the balance on my account. I looks like 2 weeks ago to see if it was paid, and to my astonishment, it was. Even thou my tuition and fee’s are payed, I have yet to receive BAH or the book stipend. I am starting to run out of the money I saved or had around. I am still waiting on my travel voucher and DITY move payments from the military still. I sent it over 3 weeks ago. Im not sure how long it takes but something has to come through soon. Hopefully we all get paid at the end of sept ( 1st of oct payday). If not im going to be up shit’s creek. So hopefully the VA starts doing what they promised.

My husband just got out of the navy too… (And if James checks back, he mailed his DITY stuff off on Aug 5th, we haven’t seen a thing either… I doubt we will at this point)
And signed up for his GI bill on AUG 20th. I’ve done some research online, and the last update from the VA that I saw said that those that were certified in early August will have their BAH by October 1st. Those that signed up by September 1st, will have theirs by mid-October.

Although… They DID promise that they would be caught up with everyone by mid-September and my husbands school STILL hasn’t been paid.

Yah… We’re kind of in the same situation. He had to drain his TSP (Should come in by October, or else we’re homeless.. Seriously) because he hasn’t found a good job as quickly as we thought he would and we already spent our savings on rent and day to day expenses.
Luckily, his school is much more understanding and our student VA rep has fought tooth and nail for our vets to stay in and even got the school to cover books until the stipend comes in.

I hope they get their act in gear soon!
Since he signed up for Pell… He’s going to take out as many student loans as he can to survive… We’ll pay them off as soon as the VA pays the school, but for now, we need money to live until we find good jobs!

Here’s crossing my fingers for all of us to have better luck soon!

Nope my fiance started school back in August. We have yet to see a dime of that money. We paid for his tuition and supplies. I can wait a bit longer for the bah money, I just want us to get reimbursed for his tuition, the military can at least make sure our tuitons are paid for instead of dragging their asses about it. I want to start classes myself in the spring and I hope my fiance gets his money soon so I can get my tuition paid

But at least we are not as bad off as some people are. I work full time and my fiance works full time and goes to school full time. But there is a lot of people out there who quit their jobs thinking they could just live off their bah, and they are hurting right now

If you have the Post 9/11 gi bill, which is sounds like you do since you are waiting on a bah check, you won’t receive tuition funds. Tuition is paid directly to the school under the post 9/11 gi bill. I am a current student who’s tuition was paid from the VA directly to my school under the Post 9/11 gi bill.
